To protect the integrity of your Slab City wood work product we encourage you to follow these steps:
If properly cared for, your Slab City Wood Works products will provide you with many years of quality service.
Using your Cutting Board:
* Never use your cutting board as a hot pad or place in the oven. This will cause your board to dry, crack or warp unnecessarily.
* Moisture on the cutting board during use will not harm the integrity of your Slab City product. However, excessive exposure to moisture or submersion will have an adverse effect.
* Never use your cutting board for processing uncooked or raw products plus other foods that will be uncooked.
* Make sure to properly clean your board between each use.
Cleaning your Cutting Board:
* Clean with a warm, damp cloth between each use.
* Do not submerge your board in water or place in dishwasher.
* For deeper cleansing, rub with a scouring pad, rinse under water and wipe dry.
* Store vertically.
Oiling your Cutting Board:
* Only use cutting board specific oils on your Slab City Wood Works products.
* Oil your board anytime your product begins to feel dry or cut lines are prevalent or feel rough upon running your hand across the board.
* Only oil your board when it is clean and dry,
* Pour a small amount of oil directly onto the board. Spread evenly across the entire board with a paper towel or soft cloth.
* Continue to apply layers of oil to the board, spreading out evenly each time, until the board begins to look and feel slightly oily.
* For a smoother finish, work oil into the cutting board using an abrasive scouring pad. Rub in circular motions. Remove excess oil with a paper towel.
Product Warnings:
Due to the natural properties of wood, some slight warping or even cracking is possible.
We encourage you to keep your cutting board or cheese board well oiled and avoid excessive moisture to protect the integrity of your purchase.
You should always make sure to store your board in a place where air is able to reach both sides of the board.
Should your board become cracked or warped due to accidental misuse, it will flatten on its own and cracks will fill back in on their own with proper product care over a period of time.
